Repair Program

What We Repair — And What We Don't

Every Ashaki garment is made to last and designed to be repaired. Our Repair Program is available to all Original Purchasers for the serviceable life of their garment, free of charge — but it is a limited program. This page tells you exactly what is and is not covered so there are no surprises.

If you are unsure whether your garment qualifies, email us at repairs@ashaki.com before sending it in. We are happy to advise.

A note on how Ashaki garments age. Our fabrics are chosen to develop character with wear — softening, deepening in color, and improving in drape over time. These changes are intentional and are part of what makes an Ashaki garment. They are not defects, and they are not covered by the Repair Program. The program covers structural damage; it does not cover the natural evolution of your materials.

Covered and Not Covered

Covered — We Will Repair This

  • Split or open seams along original stitch lines
  • Torn or detached lining
  • Failed or broken zipper (original Ashaki zipper only)
  • Detached or broken button, snap, or closure (original components)
  • Fabric tears or punctures from normal wear (where fabric is repairable)
  • Detached belt loop, waistband, or structural strap
  • Fraying or structural breakdown of collar or cuffs
  • Hem failure or detachment
  • Re-stitching of original decorative or structural seam detail

Not Covered — Outside the Program

  • Burns, cuts, or heat damage of any kind
  • Chemical damage — bleach, solvents, acids, or dyes
  • Stains of any kind, regardless of cause
  • Moth damage or damage from improper storage
  • Damage caused by animals or pets
  • Alterations or repairs made by a third party (tailor, dry cleaner, etc.)
  • Resizing, restructuring, or style modifications
  • Replacement of non-original components (after-market zippers, buttons, etc.)
  • Dyeing, color restoration, or bleaching
  • Natural material aging — including softening, color shifting or fading, changes in texture or drape, pilling, and surface abrasion — that does not affect the structural integrity of the garment
  • Lost or stolen garments

Not sure whether your damage qualifies? Email us a photo before sending your garment in and we will advise within two business days.

Important Notes

Original components only. Replacement zippers, buttons, and closures must be sourced and supplied by Ashaki. We cannot repair or warrant components not originally part of your garment or added by a third party.

Ashaki's assessment is final. Our craftspeople determine whether a repair is covered and whether a garment remains within its serviceable life. This assessment is applied consistently based on documented craft standards.

Repair limit. Ashaki performs up to four (4) Covered Repairs per garment per calendar year. To request an additional repair beyond four in a given year, contact repairs@ashaki.com — we retain discretion to accommodate exceptional circumstances. We reserve the right to decline requests where the pattern of claims suggests misuse of the program.

Proof of purchase required. Your order number or original receipt is required to access the Repair Program. Garments purchased secondhand are not eligible unless Ashaki has extended program access in writing at the time of transfer.

How to Submit a Repair

  1. Email repairs@ashaki.com with your order number, a brief description of the issue, and clear photographs of the damage.
  2. Our team will review your submission and confirm eligibility within five (5) business days. We may request additional photographs if needed.
  3. If approved, we will send you a prepaid shipping label (U.S. customers) or shipping instructions (international customers), along with a $20.00 Shipping Contribution invoice. Ship your garment within 14 days of approval.
  4. We will complete your repair and return the garment to you. Typical turnaround is 14–21 business days from receipt, depending on complexity. You will receive email updates throughout.

At-Home Repair Support

Every Ashaki garment ships with replacement buttons and beads matched to your garment. If you have a minor repair you would like to attempt yourself — or if you need matching thread, a fabric patch, or any other material for a specific issue — email repairs@ashaki.com and we will send what you need at no charge, along with written instructions.

Attempting a repair using Ashaki-supplied materials does not affect your program eligibility. If your attempt is not successful, your garment remains eligible for a Covered Repair through the process above. Video repair guides are in development and will be available at ashaki.com/repairs.

Shipping

A flat Shipping Contribution of $20.00 applies to all repair submissions. This contribution is waived in full if Ashaki determines the damage was caused solely by a manufacturing defect. The current Shipping Contribution is published at ashaki.com/repairs and is subject to change; the amount in effect at the time of your approved submission applies.

United States: We issue a prepaid label once your repair is approved. The $20.00 Shipping Contribution is due at the time of approval.

International: We provide shipping instructions once your repair is approved. Return shipping to you after the repair is covered by Ashaki. The $20.00 Shipping Contribution is due at the time of approval.

Please do not send garments without first receiving a repair confirmation from Ashaki. Garments sent without authorization may be returned at the customer's expense.

What Happens If Your Garment Is Beyond Repair

If our craftspeople determine that your garment can no longer be restored to a wearable standard, we will notify you in writing. At that point, as the Original Purchaser, you are eligible to purchase a replacement Ashaki garment at 70% off the then-current retail price — our acknowledgment of the life your garment lived.

The original garment must be surrendered to Ashaki as a condition of eligibility. The 70% discount applies to one replacement garment of equal or lesser retail value from our current collection. Full terms are set out in Section 7 of the Ashaki Return & Limited Warranty Policy.

The full policy is governed by the laws of the State of California. California customers have additional rights under the California Song-Beverly Consumer Warranty Act, Civil Code §§ 1790–1795.8.
