ABOUT LILY

Lily has been singularly focused since she was a young girl, admiring Manhattan from across the George Washington Bridge. Getting fashion magazines as a treat at the grocery store and doodling sketches of dresses in the margins of her notebooks, she knew she was going to be a fashion designer in New York City. Encouraged by her family to embrace her passion, she set her sights on attending the Fashion Institute of Technology, which she ultimately did, obtaining a BFA in Fashion Design before quickly moving to Brooklyn and starting a decade-long career designing for luxury fashion brands.

When asked why she wanted to be a fashion designer, Lily consistently answers, “I want to help women feel beautiful.” She holds a fundamental belief in the power of clothing to change how one moves through the world, a belief encouraged by her dad, who preached the value of looking good to feel good, knowing the influence it could wield. A power to make you stand taller, express a feeling, convey dignity, or instill confidence. That beauty is a source of strength.

Lily has been driven by this belief, the need to create, and a desire for beauty, which led her to Fatema and Ashaki. It is her sincerest hope that through these pieces, the customer can embody that power for herself.
