Community

Art brings us together.

Ashaki began in Silicon Valley, with roots and relationships that reach far beyond it. Our community work grows from a simple belief: creativity, learning and belonging deserve space in everyone’s life.

The art of making, at Ashaki.

What we create carries a responsibility to the world around us.

For Ashaki, that means supporting art and education, developing public places where people can gather, and contributing to conversations about how technological change can serve a wider public.

Creativity, knowledge and opportunity.

Our giving follows our founder’s story: born in Bangladesh, raised in the United Kingdom, and now at home in the United States.

We support arts and education programmes for children and young people, both close to home and in the places connected to our story. We also respond to humanitarian need where we can.

Our support reaches people and organisations in:

  • The United States
  • Bangladesh
  • The Philippines
  • Gaza

Each place has its own needs, knowledge and creative life. We approach our giving with respect for the people and organisations working within those communities.

The Gifting Program

Every season, we set aside a selection of Ashaki pieces for gifting: to the women behind the organisations we support, to fundraisers and auctions, and for meaningful occasions marked with something made by hand.

Through the Gifting Program, we also provide direct financial support to creatives and people in need. Support can make room for someone to pursue an idea, continue their work, or meet the demands of a difficult moment. Each matters. Read our Giving Policy

The Ashaki Promise: Every dollar of profit I receive from Ashaki will be given back. As we prosper, so will others..

If you work with a school, an arts programme or a community organisation, we welcome your enquiry. Individuals with a creative ambition, a personal wish or a need for support are also welcome to be considered.

A place to gather. A work made together.

In San Francisco, we are developing a monumental community artwork conceived as both a sculpture and a place to gather.

The project brings together artists, craftspeople, technologists and members of the community. It is being designed as a setting for art, music, conversation, learning and human connection.

Our hope is that this first project in Silicon Valley will offer lessons for developing similar community spaces across the United States. Its value will come from the relationships it makes possible and the life people bring to it.

San Francisco has helped shape technologies that now influence lives around the world.

It is also a place to ask whose needs those technologies serve, whose experiences they overlook, and how people can have a meaningful voice in their development.

A future shaped by more of us.

These questions inform our work around artificial intelligence policy.

AI is changing how people work and create. Its potential benefits sit alongside concerns about livelihoods, creative rights, inequality and the concentration of power. Those concerns deserve serious attention.

We are exploring and advocating for policies that would share any economic gains from AI more broadly among Americans. One proposal we are considering is an AI Citizens’ Dividend: a way for the public to receive a share of the wealth generated by AI.

We also want to help connect technologists with artists, small businesses, educators, communities and policymakers, so that technical expertise meets the knowledge of people whose lives and work are affected.

Access to useful tools and clear information matters. So does the ability to question those tools and make informed choices about whether and how to use them. Participation should leave room for curiosity, disagreement and different visions of the future.

Rooted here. Connected beyond.

Our founder spent years writing about technology in Silicon Valley. That experience brought a question into focus: how can decisions made in one place better reflect the lives they affect elsewhere?

Our giving extends to classrooms in Bangladesh, communities in the Philippines, and humanitarian relief in Gaza, alongside our work in the United States.

These commitments respond to distinct needs. They share a belief that care and opportunity should reach beyond our immediate surroundings.

Together, our giving, community art and policy work express the same intention: to make more room for people to create, learn, connect and shape their own lives.

More possibility. More people.

  1. 01

    Art opens space for expression.

  2. 02

    Education supports choice and agency.

  3. 03

    Technology should serve people.

  4. 04

Community grows through care and participation.

We want to help make these possibilities more widely available, alongside the people and communities who give them meaning.
