Ashaki means, “What is hope?” in Bangla. Our name is a question and our band is a dialogue. We honor Hope in our first Poem published:

What is hope?
It is the hush before the world shifts,
the breath given
before you know you are breathing.
It is the fire hidden in cold ashes,
the perfume of a garden
that has not yet bloomed.
Hope is the seed that dreams of spring
without needing to see the sun.
It drinks from unseen rain.
It rises by remembering.
It does not shout.
It does not bargain.
It sits beside you like a friend
who needs no name,
only your trust.
Hope is not the path, it is the pull.
It does not ask you to be ready.
It only asks that you say yes.
It does not decorate perfection.
It kneels beside your ruin
and lights a lamp.
And simply whispers:
You are the light.
Shine bright.
